CollegeCompass ("we", "our", or "the app") is a free educational tool built by a high school student to help other students explore colleges, estimate financial aid, and plan for higher education. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

CollegeCompass does not:

• Require account creation or login
• Collect your name, email address, or any personal contact information
• Store your quiz answers or financial information on any server
• Track you across other websites or apps
• Sell any data to third parties
• Use cookies for tracking purposes

2. How the App Works

All quiz answers (GPA, SAT scores, family income, etc.) are processed entirely within your browser and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers. When you close the app, all your data is gone.

3. Third-Party APIs We Use

CollegeCompass uses the following third-party services to provide data:

• U.S. Department of Education College Scorecard API — provides college data (tuition, acceptance rates, etc.). Your search queries may be sent to api.data.gov. See their privacy policy at ed.gov/privacy-policy.
• Google Fonts — used for typography. Google may log font requests. See Google's privacy policy.
• Chart.js (cdnjs.cloudflare.com) — used for data visualization. No personal data is shared.

4. Analytics

We may use anonymous analytics tools (such as Google Analytics) to understand how many people use the app and which features are most popular. This data is aggregated and cannot be used to identify individual users. No personally identifiable information is collected.

5. Children's Privacy

CollegeCompass is designed for high school students aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under 13, please use this app with parental guidance.

6. Data Security

Since we do not collect or store personal data on our servers, there is no personal data at risk. All processing happens locally in your browser.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
